Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, has vehemently opposed the Supreme Court's decision to terminate the jobs of 26,000 teachers, labeling it as an "illegal" and devastating blow. In response to the ruling, Mamata declared, "26 market teachers will lose their jobs, such a bomb has been dropped." She reassured the affected individuals, urging them not to lose hope, stating, "Don't be discouraged. No one will risk his life. We are with you. I will fight as far as necessary."
Expressing her dismay over the verdict, Mamata criticized the court's intervention, stating, "Didn't see, the Supreme Court removed it. With whom? The word of justice cries in silence." She clarified that her objections were not directed towards the judges themselves but rather towards the decision made.
Mamata asserted her commitment to challenge the ruling, emphasizing the significant impact it would have on the livelihoods of thousands of families. She remarked, "26 thousand teachers means 1.5 lakh families. Is it possible to return the money in four weeks?" Mamata further condemned the perceived injustice, stating, "This decision is illegal. Those whom we are giving jobs, you are snatching them away with the baton of law."
